Discover Dźwirzyno

A seaside resort in the Kołobrzeg municipality

The sea on one side, a lake on the other

Dźwirzyno is an intimate holiday village on the Baltic coast, in the rural municipality of Kołobrzeg (Kołobrzeg County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship). Its charm comes from its setting — it lies on a former spit, a narrow strip of land separating the open sea from Lake Resko Przymorskie.

Here you can walk in just a few minutes from the rushing Baltic waves to the calm, wind-sheltered surface of the lake. This seaside haven of peace is treasured above all by families with children and anyone looking to get away from the bustle of the big resorts.

And whenever you long for the buzz of the town, the spa town of Kołobrzeg — with its lighthouse, pier and lively promenade — is only about 12 km away.

The international R10 cycle route (the Baltic Sea Cycle Route) circling the Baltic also runs through Dźwirzyno. It is a comfortable seaside path that takes you by bike — without ever getting in the car — both to Kołobrzeg and towards Mrzeżyno and on along the coast.

One of the widest beaches on the coast

The beach in Dźwirzyno is often named as one of the most beautiful and widest along the entire Polish coast. In many places the strip of pale, fine sand is several dozen metres wide, and the shoreline runs gently for more than a dozen kilometres.

All that space is a comfort you will struggle to find in crowded resorts — children have room to build sandcastles, and you can spread your blanket without your neighbours crowding in. The gentle slope into the water makes bathing safe for the little ones.

After a day full of sun, it is worth lingering by the shore — the sunsets over the Baltic in Dźwirzyno can take your breath away.

Lake Resko Przymorskie

Just behind the belt of dunes stretches Lake Resko Przymorskie — a vast coastal lagoon lake covering somewhere between 580 and 620 ha, with a shallow depth (up to around 2.5 m). Dźwirzyno lies on its north-eastern shore.

The lake is connected to the Baltic by a harbour channel about 1300 m long — with no lock and a free flow of water. Where the channel meets the sea sits a picturesque fishing harbour, one of the village’s hallmarks.

The calm, wind-sheltered water is the ideal place for family fun on the water: kayaks, pedal boats and SUP boards. Anglers will appreciate the quiet and the abundance of fish, while walking and cycling trails run all around the lake.

Water recreation on the lake in Dźwirzyno

Marina Błękitna — the resort’s water hub

On the shore of Lake Resko Przymorskie sits a modern Water Tourism and Recreation Centre, known as Marina Błękitna. It is Dźwirzyno’s showpiece — with a marina, mooring jetties, a viewing terrace over the water and a children’s playground.

Nature and protected areas

Dźwirzyno is surrounded by precious natural areas covered by the European Natura 2000 protection network. Among them is the extensive “Trzebiatowsko-Kołobrzeski Pas Nadmorski” (Trzebiatów–Kołobrzeg Coastal Belt), spanning several dozen kilometres of coastline and protecting the coastal lakes — including Resko Przymorskie — as well as more than a dozen habitat types: white and grey dunes, coastal salt marshes and bogs.

Right next to the village, on the stretch towards Grzybowo, lies the “Wydmy między Dźwirzynem a Grzybowem” (Dunes between Dźwirzyno and Grzybowo) nature reserve, protecting the characteristic dune plant communities along with rare and protected plant species.

All of this means that a walk along the seashore or a bike ride is not only relaxing but also brings you into contact with truly wild, coastal nature.

A short history of Dźwirzyno

Until 1945 the village bore the German name Kolberger Deep. Its tourism potential was discovered relatively late — only at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, when residents began renting out rooms in summer to visitors who wanted to bathe in the Baltic.

The resort quickly grew in popularity — by 1906 nearly 700 summer guests were already recorded here, and the first holiday and treatment centres sprang up by the beach. After 1945 the village returned to Poland and was given its present name, carrying on its development as one of the most beloved seaside spots for a holiday.

Summer events

A season in Dźwirzyno is about more than just the beach. One of the most recognisable events is the recurring culinary festival „Smaczna Ryba – Otwarcie Lata" (Tasty Fish – Summer Opening), with fish-dish tastings, cooking demonstrations, activities for children and an evening concert.

In summer the local amphitheatre hosts cabaret performances, concerts and open-air events, while cyclists can look forward to events such as “Rowerem na otwarcie lata” (Cycling into Summer). You will find the current programme in the municipal events calendar — and we are always happy to tell you what is going on nearby during your stay.
